Zero Waste Paper Products

Since we’re on a roll with zero waste, this week I’m going to talk about replacing the paper items in your house with either zero waste items or sustainable items. I haven’t replaced every item yet, either because I can’t find something I like (like sustainable tissues that are as good as Puffs; I have THE WORST allergies ever, so I’m constantly blowing my nose), or I refuse to make the switch (sorry reusable toilet paper, you’re disgusting). But I have switched a lot of things in my life to either sustainable or zero waste.  I’m not going to bullshit you, switching out paper products is not easy, fun, or always the best. Toilet paper will never be as soft...

Zero Waste Grocery Shopping

I thought this week I’d talk about minimal to zero waste grocery shopping. I know if you’re an aspiring zero waster, you already know a ton about this because every single article or “how-to” is on zero waste grocery shopping. But I’m going to give you zero waste ways of doing zero waste grocery shopping, along with a few tricks I’ve learned because I do not have any bulk stores near me.  *Photos are not mine! REUSABLE PRODUCE BAGS  Zero waste grocery shopping was actually the first thing I started with years ago because I read in an article somewhere that they sold reusable produce bags. I thought “what a great idea!” because I had all these damn plastic produce...

Midsummer's Eve.

If you have followed or been a fan of VARDO for a while, you have probably noticed that we release seasonal items with every equinox: Samhain for Autumn, Yuletide for Winter, Beltane for Spring, and Midsummer’s Eve for Summer. Well, today is the Summer Solstice, and therefore the release of Midsummer’s Eve!  This line consists of three products: a body scrub, bath salts, and facial toner. I thought I’d go over what each of these products do, what makes them special, and the specifics of their ingredients so you could enjoy the knowledge of VARDO skincare as much as I do.  With that being said, VARDO also does not allow any third party to sell our seasonal items. We are...

My Summer 2019 Capsule Wardrobe

Sorry about the lack of blog post last week; I came down with a killer bacterial and viral sinus infection, and was laid up all week! But I'm back, and ready to talk about capsule wardrobes again! I've now been doing a capsule wardrobe for two months, and it's time to change to my Summer capsule. This is what I've discovered so far doing it: I CAN'T WAIT to change out my clothes!!!! I'm SO BORED with the ones I've been wearing for two months! It is much easier to get dressed in the morning, but the problem is that I've become so bored with my clothes that I really don't care what I put on anymore. I don't think that's...

Natural and Low Waste Laundry

I think this week I’m going to talk about all natural and low waste laundry needs, because it’s something that I’ve been asked about a ton and also that I see as a struggle with a lot of zero-wasters.  I have found the laundering products that I absolutely love, and will stick by them for years and years to come. There will be brands I personally buy in this post, but I have been offered no money nor have any affiliate links. These are all my personal preference. The photos are also not my own.  HOW TO WASH First, let’s talk about how I wash things. Going from place to place constantly, and being as low waste as I can...
